After another shooting event surrounding Donald Trump and the Left’s reporting on it, this article is seemingly more vital. Written days before the shooting happened.

After my military service in the early 1970’s, a highly popular book came out entitled, “The Peter Principle.” In the book, the author postulates that people with abilities frequently are assigned positions in business, just one step higher than their capabilities. In other words, an extremely competent Operations Manager could be promoted to company President, while his or her skill levels peaked at the Operations level.
The book was very successful among the business class and was followed by, “The Peter Prescription.” In essence, the author highlighted a person given a higher authority in his or her company than his or her skills could fulfill.
In that instance, those doing the promoting sometimes found out that what was world-class achievement at one level, became half-rate when the individual was given “More” to do.
I remember the Billy Idol hit song, “Rebel Yell.” In it he sang the words:
“In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more
With a rebel yell she cried more, more, more”
You may have guessed by now that the destructive four-letter word is, MORE.
Moving beyond one’s skill level in business is one thing, wanting More as and individual can be destructive; and if encouraged, the downturn affects a number of people that fall within the influence of the one wanting “more.”
For some examples:
One or two drinks of alcohol may make one feel a little giddy, even happy. Once the person wants “more” the increased alcohol consumption can lead to hospitalization or acts of violence as a result of the mixture removing inhibitions in the brain.
A 70-mph speed limit is okay for a divided highway, as provisions have been made to accommodate that speed of automobiles. Driving that fast down a city street can offer great danger to the driver, passengers and pedestrians. The want for more by a speeding driver contributes to more traffic accidents and deaths. In this case, “more” is the danger.
A homeless person with drug access might take a bit of fentanyl to artificially create a simple euphoria. But, take “more” fentanyl and you’ve got an overdose and another senseless waste of a human life.
We live in a society now that seemingly makes the want for “more” a God-given right. When the “more” surpasses a specific level, danger and death await.
In the political arena, the granting of “more” to those not wanting to live and abide by what their own endeavors grant them, a job, earnings, savings, marriage, family, etc.; politicians are all too willing to grant them what they crave, as long as the check the appropriate box in elections.
Our original government featured four cabinet positions. Now there are sixteen. Why? Because politicians could garner a vote by simply giving “more” to someone unwilling to achieve the “more” they desire by using their own skills and ambitions.
Along with the first exploration of America, Spanish explorers found gold in use by indigenous peoples. They liked gold and for good reason. They might have bartered for gold but those explorers wanted “more.” This led to the downfall and extinction of Central and South-American cultures and civilizations.
Hitler had successfully taken over control of the Sudetenland prior to World War II. But Hitler wasn’t even appeased with annexing parts of Czechoslovakia. He wanted “more.” Hence, the invasion of Poland then the invasion of Russia. The end numbers reveal the horror of attempting to appease one man’s ambitions.
In Korea and in Vietnam, Communist influence was not content with the split that gave them their own countries. No. They wanted “more.” That gave us the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.
The Soviet Empire collapsed in the late 20th Century. But Putin, a KGB alumnus, wasn’t happy with the country of Russia he came to rule over. No, he wanted “more.” This gave us the current Russia/Ukraine War being fought as I write.
Some examples of the “more” granted Americans, and illegal immigrants, meant to achieve party loyalty or for personal enrichment and power:
Taxes: While the wealthy pay most of the taxes, the promise of “more” to those who pay nothing has expanded our welfare rolls and the number of benefits handed the non-payers. Give them “more” and you get their vote. The leftwing propaganda won’t reveal this truth and leftwing politicians demand “more” from those already shouldering the bulk of the burden.
Youth: Any young person, unless suffering a disability or disease, has the ability to achieve any life dream they wish. As a teenager, my first regular job gave me eighty cents an hour. It was common when I was maturing that jobs like that (McDonalds) was an entry level position. Now shady politicians are raising the minimum wage so high that it is destroying jobs and companies. Liberal politicians know that giving them ‘more” paid for by the employers, certainly gained advocates among those wanting “more.” Soft-on-crime politicians also allow reckless youth to suffer little to no consequences for crime. What do you get from giving criminals “more?” More crime.
Hoaxes: Climate, a condition we humans are incapable of controlling, is nonetheless propagandized by the Left. It is used as political tool to enact measures contrary to reality but to give the brainwashed climate enthusiast more fuel for their imagined hate.
The same was true for the Health Care system. People were promised “more” via government taking over the industry. Results: Obamacare, with an elderly couple paying for prenatal services they would never use. It was one political party giving us “more” by giving us less; less coverage, higher deductibles and often pricing families right out of the market. This was intentional by Democrats, with the Affordable Healthcare Act being passed exclusively by Democrats without a single Republican vote. “The Rich not paying their fair share” is simply another Democrat hoax to cede them more power and more spending.
President: Joe Biden spent his entire life in government. But he wanted “more” and used his son to do it. He had a Ukrainian Attorney fired for investigating his corrupt son, Hunter, and it is now reported that large chunks of money he took from taxpayers to go to support the Ukrainians, ended up in the pocket of Democrats. Why, because Joe wanted “more.”
Abortion: Ending the life of an unborn child was illegal in my younger years. But some women, either making poor reproductive decisions, wanted “more.” Now Democrats are pushing across the country that ending the unborn’s life needs to be funded with taxpayer money. Add to that the number of fathers that skipped parental duties by fleeing. In each case, those wanting “more” fun in life – less financial responsibility, being able to end a pregnancy so they can repeat their poor behavior, knew that aborting the child would give them just that.
I see that the national debt was roughly at $260 Billion the year of my birth, 1949. We are now teetering on $40 Trillion. In these instances of increase, some may have been war-funding but one political party found that by borrowing money to buy votes gave them “more” votes.
This puts the four-letter word “more” right into my description of what is hastening our downfall. The American Democrat voters demand “more” year in and year out, and one political party, despite the consequences, is eager and willing to put us further in debt to give them “more.”
