2016 – Groupthink versus Truth. Featuring “Ignorance as a Choice”

Blame America’s Voters for Our
Country’s Woes
2012

Over fourteen trillion in debt, millions wasted in green energy fiascos, millions paid to dead federal workers, an economy in the tank, houses worth less than the buyers paid for them. Unemployment abysmal.

When we think about how a supposedly free country got into this rut can be placed at the feet of our elected officials in Washington. They say “Yeah” or “Nay” and a bill becomes law, usually having financial consequences for taxpayers.
Who is to blame?
If you have voted in the last decade or two, you may have to look no further than the mirror.
On a news broadcast yesterday, a reporter was asking folks strolling through our nation’s capital about Solyndra, the now bankrupt and discredited Green Jobs government initiative. Taxpayer cost, more than half a billion dollars!
A surprising number of respondents had no clue about Solyndra.
Now, ask yourself how the following facts came to be.

Two major political parties control what laws are passed in this country -, Democrats and Republicans. Independents and other party members don’t amount to a hill of beans when it comes to having a voting block in Congress. It’s the Democrats and Republicans.
The Table here shows just who controlled or shared power in Congress since 1981 and the National Debt Ceiling. For five years, Democrats could do whatever they wanted in Congress, having a decided majority in both chambers. The same was true for Republicans for three years.

When you look at the chart you have to be convinced that putting our country deeper in debt seems to be a bipartisan effort.
My question is, why are so many politicians that brought us to this brink of insolvency still in office?
After doing an analysis of Congressional Members I narrowed my search to be manageable, not something that would takes weeks of digging. In just one afternoon these facts comes to light.
By just looking at Members of Congress who took their oath of office BEFORE the year 2000,

Senate/House Members since before 2000
Rep15 59
Dem18 100
Totals33 159192

This research shows that in spite of years of spending, taxing, spending, regulating and spending some more, 192 members of Congress have held their seats since before the year 2000.
Why?

Perhaps for the same reason that folks had no clue about Solyndra, they had no clue about what the people they vote for do in Washington, year after year. The same clowns that put is into debt repeatedly put us further into debt. Yet there they are, still employed, still getting a cushy paycheck. In my personal blog on my website, I’ve repeatedly asked folks to do their own research on what goes on in our Capital. Do some research on YOUR Representative and YOUR Senators. How did they vote on bills and how did passage of those bills affect our nation’s prosperity?
If you don’t know what’s happening in politics, don’t blame anyone else for the outcomes of those wasting the valuable resources of our United States.
Knowledge is power – use it!
Ballots – not bullets.
